It's a real pity that some of us while entering the presence of the Lord, still operate with an Old Testament mentality. We take a hard look at ourselves and it won't take long before our conscience convicts us of a guilty act. With that mind we won't be able to freely enjoy His presence. Is it not necessary to introspect before worship? Isn't that what GOD wants? A pure and holy version of us. Yes, The truth is we are already holy in His sight from the moment we acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. GOD wants us to be holy but the truth is we go into His presence based on the work of Jesus Christ on the cross and not our own righteousness. Jesus did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but he entered the Most Holy Place once for all by his own blood, thus obtaining eternal redemption.(Hebrews:9:12)
Every time we come before GOD, He looks at the blood of Jesus Christ over our lives and not us. What a big relief! We need not worry about our righteousness score for the day before stepping into His presence. All we need to do is to make our conscience aware of this truth so that it won't condemn us every time we talk to GOD. Does it mean that we can go on and live a life of sin? No, that's stupid. When we sin we open the door for the devil to step in and cause havoc in our lives. With this purified conscience and the truth that Jesus has paid for all of our sins, holiness will flow out of lives without our knowledge. We are a new creation and the Spirit of GOD which is now within us helps us to renew our mind by enabling us to spend time in His word and presence. Slowly, but surely we will become more like Jesus that we were called to become!
