If a man or woman living among you in one of the towns the Lord gives you is found doing evil in the eyes of the Lord your God in violation of his covenant, and contrary to my command has worshiped other gods, bowing down to them or to the sun or the moon or the stars in the sky, and this has been brought to your attention, then you must investigate it thoroughly. If it is true and it has been proved that this detestable thing has been done in Israel, take the man or woman who has done this evil deed to your city gate and stone that person to death. (Deuteronomy:17:2-5)
This Old Testament passage talks about the evil things that are being done in the sight of the Lord. It is interesting to note that the Lord instructs His people to keep an eye on their fellow men and pass a judgement based on what they see and hear. It talks about the idol worship that's being committed in the 'sight of the Lord'. Wouldn't it be easier for the Lord to bring a judgement on those who are committing sins in His sight instead of asking the people to take action against the perpetrators? That's because GOD wanted them to be His eyes, ears and hands in the land of Israel.
Right now, in the New Testament era too, GOD wants us to be His eyes, ears and hands in this world but not to pass judgement on others. He wants to be the ones that will help bring the unbelievers out of darkness, suffering and affliction. He has given us every tool necessary to accomplish His goal. He has given us power, authority, talents ans skills to expand the already established Kingdom of GOD's rule on this earth. Jesus went ahead of us and showed us how to achieve this goal as we read in Acts:10:38 'how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.' Let the words "Thy will be done on this earth as it is in heaven' become a reality in our lives. Let's go around delivering the people from darkness, healing the sick, excelling in everything that we put our hand into and bringing hope to the hopeless.
