Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. (Matthew:11:20 & 21)
GOD knew that the miracles performed by Jesus wouldn't cause the people of Chorazin and Bethsaida to repent and turn to Him. GOD is Sovereign and He knew the end from the beginning. Then it begs the question, why should He let Jesus perform miracles among such hard hearted men? Because that's who He is. A loving Father!! He always gives numerous chances to His people, hoping that they will repent and turn from their evil ways by showing His goodness. It's the goodness of GOD that leads us to repentance. (Romans:2:4) It was for the same reason that Jesus selected Judas as one of His disciples even though He knew that Judas will betray Him. But that didn't stop Jesus from even trusting him with money giving him a chance to not to yield himself to the devil. But, alas, Judas did.
Peter denied Jesus thrice and the first conversation Jesus had with him after His resurrection was to assure him that He still loves him as He did before the denial. Not only that, Jesus gave him the responsibility to take care of the believers and the church that are about to be birthed. Peter repented unlike Judas who killed himself. If you are filled with guilt and remorse for a wrong doing and are trying to stay away from GOD as far as possible, this is GOD reaching out to you today. Look out for GOD's goodness in your life and don't say 'No' to Him. All He is expecting in return is a continual relationship with Him - a Father son/daughter relationship. GOD is so good even when we treat Him as a stranger, He doesn't let go off us. He continues to show us His goodness hoping to get our attention and pull us back into His fold. GOD IS GOOD and ALL THE TIME!!
Blessings!
