The Will to Complete His Will

“I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! (Luke:12:49&50)

To understand the meaning of this verse we have to go to the previous passage which talks about the servant who knows the will of his master and is ready for his arrival. Jesus too had come to earth with a mission and purpose to fulfill the will of His Father, which is to take the sins of the world upon Himself and die for us on the cross. And Jesus wanted to complete the mission as quickly as He can that He says how He wishes that the fire He had come to bring is kindled already. The fire that He is talking about here refers to the standard which He has set in His short time on the earth. (Everyone may not agree with this, but this is my revelation).

Lets read from I Corinthians:3:11-13 "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work." Everything that we do on this earth will be tested with fire - the standard set by Jesus. What kind of standard did Jesus set? He set a perfect standard in everything He did and He did it out of love and love alone. He performed miracles, healed and raised the dead and we ought to follow the same. Jesus is the perfect will of the Father and it's the standard that tests our deeds.

Jesus was urging Himself on to complete the baptism He had to undergo - the perfect will of His Father, which is to die on the cross. He put His heart and soul into completing that will of the Father. When He did finally complete it on the cross, He said "It is finished"! Let us urge ourselves and be under a constraint when it comes to fulfilling the will of GOD. The Word of GOD is the will of GOD, if you don't know what the will of GOD in your life is.

Blessings!
