But in that day, the branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious; the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of all who survive in Israel. (Isaiah: 4:1)
This verse is addressed to the people of Israel who have survived a war that ravaged the whole country. They were in a state of mind thinking "Why are we still alive? Why didn't we too die in the war? What good is going to come out of this?" But the Lord through His prophet promises that its good that they survived and they have better things to look forward to. The rest of the chapter (Isaiah 4) talks about the good things that will happen to them.
I want to talk to those of you who find yourself in a similar situation like the people of Israel. There has been a war of change in your life recently and you are wondering what on earth is happening? Why am I still here? Maybe, you think you are caught up in the wrong place, with wrong people or at a wrong job. But, don't jump to conclusions yet, because the GOD whom you trust might have a purpose for you there. Just like He had for Moses when he was in the wilderness for forty years after running away from Egypt as a convict. Moses killed an Egyptian whom he saw fighting an Israelite hoping to endear himself to the Israelites as their Savior. But his plan fell apart and he had to flee fearing the wrath of Pharaoh. Now, GOD wanted a deliverer with the mentality of a shepherd to lead the Israelites. For the Israelites with their volatile inconsistent nature needed someone who is patient and kind, qualities found in a shepherd. Moses, on the other hand had a mentality of a "the next Pharaoh in waiting". It didn't fit the job profile that GOD was looking for. So, by allowing Moses to wander in the desert, tending to those sheep, GOD was teaching Moses the nuances of surviving a desert without himself realizing. When the time was right, burning bush happened and the rest is history. Wherever you are, just stay put and wait for that "burning bush" moment. Who knows? GOD might be training you for a job of your lifetime.
Blessings!
