Go Solo when GOD says so

But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.” Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.” (Exodus: 4:13-17)

GOD had trained Moses for 80 years for this moment. The burning bush and its events not only meant to turn around Moses' life but the individual life of every Israelite in Egypt. GOD knew Moses is ready, but the only problem is Moses didn't think so. He is a convicted felon back in Egypt and doesn't want to go back inspite of GOD giving him a crash course on "How to do miracles". It reminds me of a scene from the movie "Inception" when Saito is trying to recruit Cobb for a job. Cobb resists but Saito insists that he take "a leap of faith". Just like that Moses is required to take a leap of faith. Moses is a poor communicator and a stammerer but GOD says that He will put words in his mouth. Moses just wouldn't budge.

To get Moses on board, GOD decides to bring in Aaron, who is a talented speaker unlike Moses and he agrees to the deal. We see later, that this same Aaron led the Israelites to idol worship at one point and confronted Moses along with his sister about who is greater in their relationship with GOD. Though Aaron became the High priest and was a useful assistant to Moses, on the whole, if we ask this question, Was bringing in Aaron a success? The answer is certainly not a confident Yes.

When GOD calls us to do something alone, better do it alone even though we may feel unqualified, inexperienced or undeserving. He wouldn't ask us to do something without providing the resources and training. We may not realize it immediately but later we will understand. Moses was trained exclusively for this in Egypt and at the desert where he will be leading the multitudes but not Aaron. The One who calls us is faithful in seeing us get through to the end. He maybe gracious enough to allow us to have a talented sidekick, like Aaron, to get the job done but at the end we still may have regrets.

Blessings!
