Fire Power

I was meditating on a few instances from the Bible where it is quoted as GOD Himself came down to earth! The first one is from Genesis:18:20&21 Then the Lord said, “The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.” The Lord had come down as a judge to decide what kind of judgement had to be brought upon the people of Sodom and Gomorrah had they been found guilty of sin. He did find them guilty and brought fire upon the whole city.

The second one is from Exodus:3:7&8 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. I have heard them crying out because of their slave drivers, and I am concerned about their suffering. So I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land into a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey—the home of the Canaanites, Hittites, Amorites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Here the Lord decided to come down as a deliverer on hearing the cries of His people.

The third one is from Genesis:11:5-7 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” Here again, the Lord came down to earth to stop people from becoming self reliant instead of trusting the Lord.

All these three instances are from the Old Testament, so it begs the question, what about today? Does the Lord come down as a deliverer, judge or in some other form to fix broken things on earth? He did once in New Testament, in the form of Jesus, who came and took the sins of the whole mankind and made us righteous. But today, He has made us, His believers to be like Him to perform His functions of delivering people from darkness and bringing fire upon cities (not a fire of destruction but a fire of revival by the outpouring of Holy Spirit). GOD need not come down everytime like in Old Testament days, since He has given us the same authority and power by the in dwelling of His Spirit in us. In Acts:10:38 we read about Jesus how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him. We are called to do the same. Let's ask the Lord to be fill us with His power, so that we can represent Him in the right way and transform cities by bringing a fire of revival.

Blessings!
