You provide a broad path for my feet, so that my ankles do not give way. (Psalms:18:36)
We have been taught how Christianity is about walking the straight and narrow path. It's very much true but the psalmist here talks about the Lord making his path broader so that he doesn't stumble. What a loving GOD we have! The world we live in is a fallen world and it's full of evil. Don't be surprised if we get treated undeservedly by people and wrongly accused of something which we didn't commit. Life is so unfair because of the world we live in. These things surrounding us make our paths so narrow that before we could realize what is happening we would have fallen.
Today, GOD is promising us that He can make our paths broader. When the path we are traversing is broad we can not only reach our destination quicker but will have enough time to look around and enjoy the ride. GOD wants us to enjoy the journey called life on this earth and He has made the necessary resources available to us. Proverbs:3:5 says "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." When we are dependent on our own strength to get through this life, we will focus only on whats ahead of us missing out on the things around us like our family, friends, love, peace and joy. But, when we put our trust on GOD, He makes sure the path is broad enough, keeping all the problems that we face at bay, and not allowing them to overpower us.
No wonder David talks about this because Saul who had been a constant threat to his life was never able to overpower David because GOD kept him at bay. David trusted GOD and inspite of all the troubles he encountered, David enjoyed the ride praising GOD with songs and instruments. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (I Peter:5:7)
Blessings!
