Through the Stone

A stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that Daniel’s situation might not be changed. (Daniel:6:17)

We are all familiar with the story of Daniel and the lions. Once Daniel was put inside the den full of lions for worshiping the Lord instead of the king of Babylon a stone was placed over it. I am going to call it "the stone of impossibilities". The purpose of the stone was to make sure no one enters in or goes out of the den especially Daniel. Just imagine the situation, Daniel is totally helpless. The only person who has the authority to move the stone is the king. But he too, in spite of his desire to set Daniel free, left saying may your GOD help you!

Aren't we all familiar with such a scenario in our lives? We are locked up in a situation where there are lions waiting to devour us and we can't run away since there is no way out. A stone as big as "the stone of impossibilities" has been kept, preventing us to get out of the situation that we find ourselves in. Mind you, Daniel didn't do anything wrong. It maybe the same with us. We didn't deserve to be in this situation. The only person that has the authority or the resources to help us (it's the king in Daniel's case) has deserted us saying that his hands are tied.

Let's see how the story ends. Daniel:6:21&22 says Daniel answered, “May the king live forever! My God sent his angel, and he shut the mouths of the lions. They have not hurt me, because I was found innocent in his sight. Nor have I ever done any wrong before you, Your Majesty.” The stone may be blocking the entrance to the den and the king who could have helped had gone home but the GOD of Daniel sent His angel to the rescue. The king had resources to help but his hands were tied due to the decree. It's not the same with our GOD. He has the resources to rescue us and his angels can go through the "stone of impossibilities" and tie the mouth of the lions. Be of good cheer. You are going to come out of the den that you find yourself in unscathed.

Blessings!
